3v3 Classic Rules

Get ready for an unforgettable weekend of hockey at the William Reynolds Memorial 3V3 Tournament, happening December 6–8 at McCormick Arena! Parkdale, Mimico, and Weston House League teams will compete in fast-paced, thrilling games honouring William Reynolds, whose over 20 years of dedication to young players helped create this cherished holiday tradition.


This tournament celebrates hockey, community, and fun! Remember, the referees are children, so let’s show respect, embrace good sportsmanship, and enjoy an exciting, action-packed weekend on the ice. See you there!

 

Round Robin/Play-offs

  • Teams will need 3 players and a goalie to start the game
  • Points will be assigned as follows:
  • Win 2 points, Tie 1 point, Loss 0 points
  • All Games will be 15 minutes, Play-offs 20 minute games, running clock
  • Teams must be prepared to go on the ice 2 minutes before the scheduled game time and must be lined up by the entrance door
  • Players who are late will only be allowed to enter the ice on a stoppage of play as a result of a penalty shot
  • Canadians U10 last game does not count for them for win, loss or tie as well as goals for or against only impact to opposing team
  • U10 one team will be eliminated in round robin.
  • The score clock will not show more than 5 goal differential
  • Home/Visitors teams will be pre-determined for round-robin play
  • No red line
  • No icings
  • Goals & Goalie covers the puck the offensive team (all players) must clear the blue line before they can attack.
  • Penalties result in a penalty shot ( Defensive team lines up at offensive blue line) Once the player crosses the blue line, the opposing team can follow but cannot interfere with the shot. The play is live after the shot.
  • Offsides apply (Change in possession)
  • Players change on the fly
  • Infractions cause a change of puck possession (i.e. High sticking of the puck)
 

Tie Breakers

  • The winner of the game(s) between the two tied teams (head to head), or
  • If that game(s) ended in a tie(s), the team with the better record of goals for and against (goals for divided by goals against, with the higher percentage winning), or number of wins in round robin, or
  • In the event of a tie among three or more teams, group standings will be determined by the best record of goals for vs goals against
  • If all of the above result in a continued tie, the standings will be resolved by a coin flip.
 

Overtime Format  Semi’s and Finals

  • Sudden death shoot out 1 player each.
  • Each team will designate a shooter.  The teams will shoot simultaneously on the opposing goalie.
  • If their team scores and the own goalie saves, the game is over.
  • If both shooters do not score sudden death continues.
  • Teams cannot use the same shooter until the whole team has shot once.
 

Officiating

  •  Two referee System to be used on all games.  All referee calls are final
  • All penalties will be assessed as penalty shots
  • 3 penalties to the same player, the player is automatically ejected ( on third penalty)
  • This is none contact tournament.
 

Suspensions

  • Any suspensions will eliminate the coach or player for the remainder of the tournament.
