PARKDALE FLAMES 2020-21 SEASON CANCELLED DUE TO COVID-19 PANDEMIC
(Feb.15, 2020) —
In light of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic which continues to paralyze our community, city and country, the Parkdale Flames Minor Hockey Association has made the difficult decision to suspend league operations for the balance of the 2020-21 season.
Health and safety remains the top priority for our Parkdale family, and in this climate of uncertainty — primarily the continuing health risks, as well as financial implications involved with a shortened, COVID-altered season — a return to the ice is simply not possible.
While an emotionally difficult decision, the COVID-19 numbers continue to be high in the Greater Toronto Area and our decision is in line with virtually all other minor hockey associations. The Parkdale Flames will now direct our attention to planning for the 2021-22 season, which we hope will see us return to the ice in numbers for another great season of Parkdale hockey.
Refunds for those who had already registered and paid for the 2020-21 season will be issued shortly.
On behalf of the Board of Directors, we would like to thank our Parkdale families for their patience and understanding in these challenging times — and look forward to welcoming everyone back to McCormick Arena once it is safe to do so.
Thank you, and stay safe.
